Term cover estimator

Suggests how much cover replaces your income, then shows a wide band for what a pure term plan might cost. It is not a quote and it does not name an insurer.

Recommended Life Cover

Calculated

₹90,00,000

15× annual income (₹6,00,000) minus ₹0 existing coverage.

Illustrative Annual Premium

Est. Cost

₹4,500 – ₹8,100

Estimated yearly premium for ₹0.9 Cr cover up to age 60.

Planning Range Notice:

Do not buy purely from this estimate. Pure term insurance rates depend on medical underwriting, smoker status, and insurer claim-settlement ratios. Use this target number to compare quotes without buying expensive bundled ULIPs or endowment policies.

The cover amount

The suggestion is 10, 15, or 20 times annual income, minus any cover you choose to count. Fifteen is the default because a family can replace income for a long stretch without pretending the number is exact. If nobody depends on your income, you may not need this product yet. Health cover and the emergency fund come first. The article walks through that choice.

The premium band

The band is an illustration chosen on 22 October 2026, per ₹1 crore of cover, for a non-smoker buying a term that runs toward age 60. A much shorter term is shown a little lower. A term that runs well past 60 is shown a little higher. Tobacco raises the low end by half and doubles the high end, because smoker prices vary widely. Real premiums depend on health, income proof, the insurer, and the price that week.

Get actual quotes before you buy. Compare the cover, the term, the claim-settlement record, and the exclusions. Ignore a plan that mixes an investment into the premium. Read the buying guide before you sit through a sales call.

The 30-day checklist is on this site. The order is the useful part.
